This is the cocoon of the Metallic Mechanitis Butterfly Chrysalis from Costa Rica. Mechanitis is a genus of tiger-wing (ithomiine) butterflies, named by Fabricius in 1807. They are in the brush-footed butterfly family, Nymphalidae.
